Likkle Rum with Grandma

Sugar J’s debut solo show mixed poetry with verbatim audio to explore intergenerational relationships, touching on the mortality of loved ones and the paradox of ‘belonging’ in the UK.

Likkle Rum with Grandma crossed a generational bridge to open up a dialogue about Black Britishness and self-identity, ultimately encouraging us to investigate our own notions of home in Britain today.

Created, written and performed by Jeremiah the piece was a vulnerable expression that also deals with loneliness and the different coping mechanisms used simply to get by.

Likkle Rum with Grandma sold out at the Roundhouse as part of the Last Word festival, at Bernie Grants Arts Centre as part of SKFEST and also had a sold out run at the Albany in March 2019.

Likkle Rum with Grandma was set to tour the U.K. in 2020 before being cancelled due to Covid-19.
