BORN::FREE presents: Veranda (end of 2019 edition)

  • 11-17 Stoke Newington Road London, England, N16 8BH United Kingdom (map)

BORN::FREE is one of London’s leading platforms for African and Afro-diasporic poetry and new writing.

With a focus on critique, creation and craft, the literary movement presents the next edition of Veranda, a series of experimental performance events centring Black British voices. The end of year instalment brings together some of London's most versatile poets from all corners of the city – Jeremiah 'SugarJ' Brown (Likkle Rum with Grandma), Hibaq Osman (A Silence You Can Carry) & Darius McFarlane, AKA Latekid (FoMo + sxwks). They'll be joined by the Veranda house band, led by multi-instrumentalist Nathaniel Ricketts.

Curated by poet/educator Belinda Zhawi, writer/theatre-maker Malakaï Sargeant & writer/filmmaker Chima Nsoedo, expect an informal yet insightful evening of live performance and readings packed with laughs and deep hums; many lessons and many blessings.

Doors 7:30pm; ticket prices are suggested donations – you can also pay what you can on the door.

Open mic slots are available – email us with examples of your work.
