St Paul’s cathedral
Since spending a week in residence at the prestigious cathedral Jeremiah has been commissioned by St Paul’s a number of times. His poem Vessel about Martin Luther King Jr’s visit there was displayed in the cathedral as part of the ‘Radicals and Reformers’ project.
Jeremiah was also commissioned to write a poem retelling a part of the Christmas story for the ‘Alternative Advent’ series.
barbican
As an alumni of the Barbican Young Poet programme Jeremiah has a close relationship with the Barbican. He has performed at a number of showcases at the venue as well as representing BYP at festivals and shows.
Jeremiah was commissioned to write on the topic of change for the Barbican’s ‘Subject to Change’ project. His poem celebrates Black people being lit.
Pandemic is a musical exploration of what it means to exist in these uncertain pandemic times. You can read an interview with Jeremiah and Gabriel about the project here.
Pandemic is Sugar J’s second musical collaboration with poet and producer Gabriel ‘Bump Kin’ Jones. The pair previously worked together on the track What are we? which featured on Jones’ debut album Let me out my room please. The creative duo are currently putting the final touches on an EP called Happy Story.
He was one of three poets whose initial adverts set the ball rolling for a very successful campaign.
In the piece Sugar J discusses the theme of loneliness in a connected world and how face-to-face communication is still important in this digital age.
