Jeremiah Brown is a Black British-Jamaican writer and actor based in Croydon.

He creates art that explores relationship, mental health, family and faith.

He was one of the faces of Nationwide’s ‘Voices’ ad campaign, and was featured in the Evening Standard for his poem I’m Rooting For Everybody Black. His commissions include St Paul’s Cathedral, Thames Festival Trust, Apples and Snakes, and more. Jeremiah has written features for Time Out and Wasafiri. He has sat on numerous panels, featured on a number of podcasts and performed at a variety of festivals including Lovebox, Citadel and Brainchild.

Jeremiah releases his Substack newsletter, Sugar Shots every Wednesday. They’re a little suttin suttin in the middle of your week to make you think and feel. He does this with a shot of writing, using a single word with its definition as a jump off point. Through Sugar Shots Jeremiah provides a constant stream of quality writing and content for all.

A Barbican Young Poet, Royal Court Writer’s Group, Soho Theatres Writers Lab alum and former Roundhouse resident artist, Jeremiah has taken part in programmes to push his practice forward. He also works often with The Poetry Takeaway as a ‘Poet Chef’ writing bespoke poetry for members of the public across the U.K and Ireland. One such member of the public was BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Wiley whom Jeremiah wrote a poem for on air live, in front of a studio audience.

Jeremiah is an actor who has taken to the stage at the Arcola. He has also starred in Money Heist: The Experience as well as featuring in adverts for Uber Eats and Casumo.

As a playwright Jeremiah has seen his plays staged at the Roundhouse, Albany and Arcola to date. His debut show Likkle Rum with Grandma enjoyed a sold out run at the Albany. Jeremiah’s most recent play Hell or High Fire has entered research and development having secured seeding space at London Performance Studios.

An international performer Jeremiah has taken his poetry to cities such as New York and Los Angeles. He has performed at numerous venues across the U.K such as the Barbican, Birmingham NEC, and the Southbank Centre. As a member of former poetry collective Spit the Atom Jeremiah co-produced and co-hosted a successful monthly poetry night.

In addition to all this Jeremiah is also a facilitator. He provides fun interactive workshops that develop participants creative thinking, writing skills, public speaking, team work, independent learning and poetic understanding. Offering workshops that integrate poetry with subjects pupils are studying in class Jeremiah delivers the curriculum back to students in refreshing ways.
